Stage 1 - Starting a Referendum
To start a referendum, give your written proposal to the Clerk of the House of Representatives. The proposal must include:
  • your name
  • the name of your contact representative or spokesperson (if you have one)
  • a contact address for you or your representative or spokesperson (if you have one)
  • a draft of the proposed wording for the petition
  • a draft of the petition collection form.
You must also give the Clerk the $500 fee.

We are currently in the stage prior to this process, obtaining general interest and support for the cause and initatitive of seeking referendum, which we believe is the best chance to hold the current government liable for thier approach with this law change.  Once we achieve 500 names on the petition form whom are willing to donate $1 to support the greater cause of democracy for Kiwi's and support for Christchurch, then we will process the petition with the clerk.
